Diagnostics (Lab, ECG, X-Ray)

The first step toward any medical treatment is accurately getting to the root cause of your symptoms. This usually involves a physical examination, review of your symptoms and medical history, and may also require diagnostic testing to either confirm an initial diagnosis or rule out other causes. For example, X-rays may be necessary to identify tiny fractures or other structural issues; a swab of the throat may be necessary to confirm the presence of strep throat or a urine test may be required to confirm whether you are pregnant.

The on-site diagnostic testing we offer includes:

Laboratory Testing

• Fingerstick glucose/Accucheck
• Influenza (Flu Test)
• Mononucleosis (“mono”) screening
• Occult blood test
• Pregnancy testing
• Strep throat screening
• Urinalysis

We are able to perform bloodwork for complete metabolic panel and other diagnostic tests. For these tests, the blood samples are sent to a reference laboratory and results are received within 48 hours and communicated to the patient.

Digital X-Rays

Digital x ray imaging has brought obvious benefits to health care, but, as with all new technologies, it both requires and leads to changes in behaviour and processes, some obvious and some less so. The issues include cost and productivity, the need to acquire new skills, radiation doses, overuse, and image quality. Moreover, some of the ethical and legal issues surrounding teleradiology remain unclear.

Physicians have long been accustomed to viewing and interpreting images on film. Film is now being replaced with digital images in the same way as film cameras are being replaced with digital cameras. Digital x ray imaging does away with film processing, and the images can be viewed just minutes after exposure via computer networks, to be seen by many people at once, in many different places.

ECG

An electrocardiogram (ECG) is a simple test that can be used to check your heart's rhythm and electrical activity. Sensors attached to the skin are used to detect the electrical signals produced by your heart each time it beats.
